It’s a small
family-size Maine Coon Cattery, situated at the isle of
La Réunion, at Saint-Leu, known worldwide by surfers for
its spot.
Although I am
only starting in the selection of the breed, I have done
a lot of research on the lines of my future breeding
cats. My work is first of all to breed kitten with
perfect health, well typed and with the peaceful
character worthy of the name of the “gentle giant”.
For this all
my cats are regularly tested FIV, FeLV, HCM (DNA and
echo), PKD, SMA and they all have their blood group
card.
Given the
heat, my cats live in total liberty in an enclosure
outside with garden and shadow to hide from the sun. To
avoid all risks of unwanted covering but also in case of
bad weather or cyclonal season, we have build a small
house, entirely tiled, fitted out and well-ventilated,
with 3 separations inside (to be able to separate male
from female when in heat). The third part is a nursery
that will welcome the future mommies and their babies.
Every enclosure is separated through a wire fencing that
allows the cats to still see and smell one another.
In case of
illness or obligation for quarantine (which is rare in
our part of the world!), the cat will be immediately
isolated thanks to a “mobile” quarantine zone (that I do
not have actually because I am still thinking for a fast
and easy way to put it in place near a water station).
This quarantine zone will also serve for the new
arrivals before they will get in to contact with the
others.
Although my
loves live in a park, we spend a lot of time with them
and it is not rare that they will join me in the house
at night for sleep, because there is nothing more
pleasant than to get to sleep and wake up with my
“lions”.
Furthermore I pay much attention to my kitten to be very
present, manipulating them from their birth on (I had
the chance until this day that my mommies didn’t bother
and let it happen). I leave music in the house (and they
also get used to the external noises) and at their
disposition many toys, scratching posts and grass. I get
them used to the litter box; they are feed with Mastery
dry food but get also a can of tuna and milk products.
Well, many little gourmet joys as for the adults. And
it’s of course impossible for me to not take them into
the house with me, look at them playing and play with
them myself or cuddle them a lot.
All our cats
are vaccinated starting from their 2 months and are
ready to leave at 3 months, identified by microchip,
with a LOOF pedigree, dewormed and with a sales
contract. We assure a follow through of all our kitten.
Of course they are clean and perfectly socialised and
have the perfect Maine Coon character: keen, playful,
very dynamic, also very smart, real little devils,
charming and who love to talk, not able to shake them
off, cuddling and affectionate. Intelligent they will
know to tell you what they want. Well, to say it
shortly: a real “dog-cat”.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions or
if you need advise. It will be a pleasure for us to
answer you the best we can.
